The aluminium housing is the clearest physical difference between Fastface 5 Pro and plastic-bodied terminals, and the practical benefit is consistency rather than looks alone. The device is rated to run between -20°C and +60°C, which covers rooftop and plant-room mounting positions where ambient temperature sits well above what an office device is designed for.
An IP65 seal means the body is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. That is what allows it to be mounted at a covered external door, in a plant with airborne particulates, or in a humid coastal environment without the interior gradually collecting what the air carries. The anti-corrosion treatment addresses the slower failure mode that catches most electronics near salt air, where damage shows up months after installation rather than immediately.

Important limit worth stating internally: IP65 covers dust and water jets. It does not cover immersion. Recognition speed only counts if it holds in the conditions the device actually faces. The infrared and RGB camera pair is what keeps Fastface 5 Pro working when lighting is poor, because infrared does not depend on the ambient light an RGB sensor needs.
When power drops and a site is running on backup lighting, most face terminals become unusable. Infrared detection keeps the device functional at close to zero ambient light, which matters for night shifts, overnight facilities and any site where lighting varies by area rather than being uniform throughout.
Liveness detection handles the other half of the problem, which is deliberate misuse. The system separates a live person from a printed photograph, a screen showing a video, or a mask, closing off buddy punching as an option rather than leaving it to supervisor vigilance.
